Another cider recipe

Z and I are big cider fans this time of year.  We made cranberry cider over the Thanksgiving weekend, and recently I found this recipe for Spiced Apple Cider from Made by Melissa, where I’ve found good recipes before.

Anyway, we found we like both recipes.  The cranberry recipe seems stronger and richer.  I like the citrus flavor in this recipe, but Z’s a sucker for cranberry juice, so we’ll definitely be making both again.

Spiced Apple Cider

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 1/2 C orange juice
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 6 cinnamon sicks
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 12 whole allspice

Mix together above ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil.  Simmer at least 30 minutes on the stove-top. Transfer to a crockpot and set on low, stirring occasionally. Serve with fresh whipped cream, cinnamon and caramel sauce.

We didn’t add the whipped cream, cinnamon or carmel sauce and the cider was still wonderful.  After enjoying some, we put it back in the apple cider contianers with the spices, and we’ve been enjoying it all weekend.
